EDMR Basic Training Courses

Training Fees

Fees cover the full training including Weekends 1 and 2 and the required 10 hours of provided group consultation.

  • $1600 – Standard Registration if received 30 days or more before the training

  • $1750 – Standard Registration if received less than 30 days prior to the training

  • $1300 – Students/interns and full time employees of non-profits and government agencies (must be approved) if received 30 days or more before the training

  • $1600 – Students/interns and full time employees of non-profits and government agencies (must be approved) if received less than 30 days prior to the training

We offer the option of paying the course fee out in three installments.

  • Payment 1 is due at registration (unless special arrangements have been made in writing).

  • A $50 administrative fee is added to the course fee when choosing this option.

Cancellation/Refund/Payment Policy:

  • More than 30 days prior to the training date: the refund is given for the amount paid minus a $75 administrative fee.

  • 15 to 30 days prior to the training date: the refund is given for the amount paid minus a $150 administrative fee.

  • Less than 15 days prior to the training date: no refunds are given. A transfer of payment to the next training is available plus a $75 administrative fee.

  • Missed conference calls will require rescheduling at a further cost of $125/hour.

Eligibility Requirements

Attendance in an EMDR Therapy Training is limited to licensed mental health professionals, interns on a state licensing track, and second-year students in an accredited graduate program.  Students and interns must receive approval for attendance.  See EMDRIA’s eligibility requirements below.

Licensed Mental Health Professionals

  • Qualifying medical doctors must be licensed to practice in their state or province.

  • Qualifying advanced practice registered nurses must have a Master of Science in Nursing (or higher) with a specialization in psychiatric mental health nursing and must be licensed to practice through their state board or province.

  • Qualifying Mental Health Clinicians must have a master’s degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline and be licensed to practice through their state board or province.

Pre-Licensed Mental Health Professionals

  • These are clinicians who are actively pursuing a mental health license through their state board (or province) while working under a licensed supervisor. Some of these license types include associate, intern, limited, provisional, temporary and pre-license.

  • Qualifying pre-licensed mental health clinicians must have a master’s degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline and must be actively pursuing a full license through their state board (or province) while working under a licensed supervisor.

Graduate Students

  • Qualifying graduate students must be enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Psychiatric Nursing, Social Work) or related mental health discipline. Students must have completed their core graduate academic coursework and must be in the practicum/internship portion of their graduate program. First year graduate students are not eligible.

  • Graduate students must be on a licensing track and working under the supervision of a fully licensed mental health clinician.

EMDRIA reserves the right to refuse those individuals who do not meet the required guidelines for consideration.

Required Documentation

After completing the registration form online, please scan and email the required documentation to ipcd.assist@gmail.com to confirm eligibility for the training:

  • Licensed mental health professionals must submit a copy of their professional license that shows the expiration date.

  • Full-time nonprofit employees must submit a copy of their professional license that shows the expiration date and a letter on agency letterhead verifying full-time employment.

  • Interns/Associates on a state licensing track must submit a copy of their professional license that shows the expiration date. (This can be a pdf of your states web license) Your Supervisor must provide a letter on corporate or personal letterhead that confirms that the Intern/Associate is enrolled in their state’s appropriate licensing track and also provides the credentials and signature of the Supervisor. We will also need a copy of the supervisor's state license that shows the expiration date. (This can be a pdf of your states web license)

  • Graduate students must submit a graduate transcript (which can be unofficial) and a letter from their current supervisor which includes a paragraph describing the details of their internship/practicum as well as the supervisor's degree information and signature on University letterhead or supervisor's letterhead. We will also need a copy of the supervisor's state license that shows the expiration date. (This can be a pdf of your states web license) .

    Please note that registration is not complete until the required documents have been received and approved.  

Certification of Completion Requirements

Completion of entire two weekends and two conference call consultation periods.

  • Completion of all 10 hours of consultation (included in our schedule).

  • No partial credit. Attendance at the entire training is required.

  • Reading the textbook Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing: Basic Principles, Protocols, and Procedures, Third Edition by Francine Shapiro, Ph.D. (Guilford Press, 2017).

  • Participants who begin the EMDR training must complete the entire training within 12 months from their initial start date unless there are extraordinary circumstances. This applies to trainees who begin their EMDR training after January 1, 2017.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

APA:  EMDR institute, Inc. is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. EMDR Institute maintains responsibility for this program and its contents.

NBCC:  EMDR Institute, Inc. is an approved provider through the National Board of Certified Counselors: NBCC Provider # 5558.

RN:  EMDR Institute, Inc. is a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing.  Provider # 9755, for 20 contact hours.

BBS:  For California the course meets the qualifications for 20 hours of continuing education credit for MFT’s and LCSW’s as required by the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences. Approval # PCE270

SW:  IPCD is approved as continuing education provider by Texas State Board of Social Workers Examiners.  LCSW Provider No:  6240

LPC:  IPCD is approved to provide continuing education for licensed Professional Counselors in Texas.  Provider No: 1756

LMFT:  IPCD is approved to provide continuing education Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists in Texas.  Provider #915

If you select the Payment Plan Registration option, your payment for the course will be spaced out over a course of 3 months (from the time of registration) and a $53 administrative fee is added to the course fee
